This Pardubice start-up has gone a long way in the development of specialized utility vehicles for a variety of applications such as winter maintenance, urban road cleaning, and so on.

ZEBRA AND MGM COMPRO FOR A BETTER CITY LIFE

There is no doubt that MGM COMPRO is enthusiastic about this idea. Another project in which we have successfully brought a utility vehicle to the streets of the cities to assist people. Zebra Group vehicles have been provided to a number of construction enterprises, municipalities, and technical services in numerous countries. The vehicles are capable of carrying over 45 different types of interchangeable bodies thanks to innovative development and component advancements. The multi-purpose vehicles have three-circuit hydraulics that transport bodies in the front, back, and hull.

MGM COMPRO PUSHES DEVELOPMENT ONE STEP FURTHER

The MGM COMPRO team has a long history of collaboration with the ZEBRA Group and supports their vision of electrifying utility vehicles. Our teams collaborated to create the first ElZebra generation, which involved the integration of our speed controllers as well as the debugging and testing of the battery systems and the entire vehicle power unit.

The successful implementation of the 4×4 drive is a major step in development. New Zebra electric vehicles are now even better at riding in snow or where off-road conditions are significantly impaired. As a result, the car now has electric motors not just at the back but also at the front axle.

However, the ElZebra project is far from over. Our team is looking forward to the future challenges that the development of this utility vehicle will offer.

NASA along with Masten aero is getting closer to landing a commercial payload on the moon by 2023. How did they get this fantastic opportunity? Masten got this opportunity from NASA to transport payloads to the lunar surface or lunar orbit. Masten will deliver a set of NASA’s science and technology payloads with room on the lander for additional commercial payloads.

The project itself is slightly delayed because of the covid pandemic, but they still plan to land on the moon in 2023. In 2021 both companies were already working on the first phase, which involved completing the concept design. The biggest challenge will come in the second phase in which the engineers have to come up with a solution on how to withstand harsh lunar conditions. However, they would like to complete the second phase next year.

About Masten’s lunar landers

In this project, there are 2 lunar landers. The first one is called „Xelene“ and it will be made in partnership with NASA’s Lunar CATALYST program. Xelene is designed with Masten’s knowledge of vertical take-off and Nasa’s experience of vertical rocket landing. This lunar lander will carry science stuff from NASA also with a commercial payload to the south pole of the Moon in 2023.

The second lunar lander is called „Xeus“. It’s one of Masten’s concepts which they were developing at great length. It’s capable of demonstrating heavy lift cargo delivery to the Moon. Xeus is specially developed to provide easy access to the moon’s surface after the landing to unload a large payload.

The technology Masten is using is mainly based on reusability, reducing cost, and increasing the reliability of future missions. As they claim, their technology can safely land any payload anywhere in the solar system.

When Masten aero will land on the Moon, it will be another success for MGM COMPRO as the main supplier of speed controllers for this project. We believe that everything will go according to plan and the year 2023 will be successful for both Masten’s and NASA.

The company has set the goal of becoming a carmaker specializing in utility vehicles for a wide range of applications, from the cleaning of roads, through winter maintenance, to even the service of industrial areas.

ZEBRA: SUCCESSFUL COMMERCIAL VEHICLES WITH GREAT UTILITY

After six years on the market, Zebra Group cars are supplied to the market for a great number of construction companies, municipalities and technical services, thanks to constant development and improvement. It was this desire to move forward that inspired the company to design a new – purely electric – model elZebra. It was announced at the end of 2018 and entered the market in August this year.

The electric car can be driven with a passenger car driver’s license and in addition to the natural benefits of the electric motor, such as zero emissions and the absence of noise, it also has many other key features. Probably the most surprising of them is the price – being comparable to the diesel version and in combination with the much lower maintenance costs makes the elZebra not only a more environmentally friendly but also a more economical version. A very pleasant benefit is also the long battery life: the largest battery system has a capacity of 64.5 kWh and thus brings a trouble-free range for the entire usual 8.5-hour shift.

MGM COMPRO HELPED BY TUNING OF THE PROPULSION UNIT

The MGM COMPRO team has a long history in support of electrical conversion in many industries, so we did not hesitate when Zebra asked us to cooperate. Our teams worked together to supply and integrate our speed controllers. We then also helped to fine-tune the entire system, especially in the area concerning the propulsion unit, which is essential for the entire car’s operation.

However, the whole project is merely on square one – Zebra Group recently announced the development of a 4×4 version, having these two electric motors also on the front axle. This project will continue to be a great challenge for our engineers and our entire team will be happy to further participate.

In two years, functioning agricultural drone will have all necessary certificates and valid authorization to be used all over the world.

Lower expenses and no nature devastation

Drone4Agro is a multicopter with 12 propellers, which allow it to take of vertically from the ground. Farmers don’t have to use a runway to take off with their crop duster airplanes. In contrast to spraying vehicles, drone is not using ground to transport. So there is no soil compaction. It doesn’t need wheel trails that occupy space where a plants could have grown.

The size of the drone is 3 by 2,5 meters so it doesn’t require a hangar or a large garage like planes or vehicles do. Also its maintenance is much easier. Thanks to built-in GPS navigation, crop spraying is more precise and effective.

20 minutes of air time with 150 kg load

With one fully charged battery should drone flight duration be around 20 minutes and maximal load can weigh between 100 and 150 kg. It can cary that much of a load thanks to 12 propellers. Stable and safe flight is secured even if 2 propellers stops working. In the case of more serious failure, built-in parachute will provide safe landing.

Once this Dutch start-up finishes their drone, its usage is limitless, not only in agricultural revolution. It is a question of 2 years and those drones will help firefighters to extinguish the fire in inaccessible locations. Mountain rescue service will appreciate its remote controlling and vertical start while looking for missing tourists.

The team of engineers had to face a lot of great challenges during the development process such as scale reduction of the jet engine and finding an appropriate ESC, batteries and their management system (BMS). Briefly said the power plant and brain of the whole system.

The latter accomplished guys from Radinn in a close cooperation with MGM COMPRO. We are very proud that we provided our partner in a short time with a very complex solution, which enables the electric wakeboard to bring plenty of fun to people all around the world.

The HBC 50063 series (rated for continuous operation at up to 500A and 63V) is the successor to the HBC 40063 model. The new design represents a significant reduction in dimensions and weight and a major increase in performance (31kW). The addition of new ports and functions include the ability to completely isolate equipment from traction power.

HBC 280120 (rated for continuous operation at up to 280A and 120V) is a completely new type of controller designed for higher voltages and moderate levels of performance (33kW). Just like HBC 50063, this one has new ports and functions, including the ability to completely isolate equipment from traction power.

The wide range of advantages, options and configurations offered by the HBS SERIES have been carried forward in the new model types. When combined with the ability to customize both hardware and software, the options for using these controllers are practically limitless.

These industrial speed controllers apply the most advanced IGBT modules in order to achieve maximum efficiency (98% – 99%). They are an intelligent solution with high-performance 32-bit ARM Cortex processors used for control. Advanced algorithms are used to control the motor and secure safe operations. The design is based on a many years of experience with BLDC (or PMSM), both with and without Hall sensors, in extreme duty applications and very difficult operating conditions.
